Thumbelina Loses her Parents Empty Thumbelina Loses her Parents

Post  Thumbelina Mon Jun 25, 2012 11:15 pm

(this is what happens when I am trying to avoid math homework)

Thumbelina was out on the streets with the gypsies again, it was the fifth time she had performed in one of their shows and she still loved it. The roar of the crowd, the alluring music of the flute and guitar, the sway of the gypsies as they rotated and twirled, and her own heartbeat pounding as she stood before so many people.

She awaited her turn to sing as several of the other gypsy women finished singing their happy melodies. Everyone clapped loudly for Thumbelina's cousin, Giselle, because of her beautiful voice. Thumbelina swayed to the music and when the last girl finished her song Thumbelina took a step forward and began to sing. Heads turned at her high soprano voice and they all stared at her as she raised her arms and sang beautifully.

When she was done she stepped back and people applauded. Thumbelina was glowing, the feeling was sensational and she couldn't wait to sing in the next performance.

After the show was over a little boy handed Thumbelina a rose and she giggled and thanked him.

Thumbelina knew her parents would be furious if they learned that she had joined the 'gypsy freakshow' again. The sky was clear and Thumbelina slowed her pace, happy to be alive.
Waving to everyone she knew, and smiling at everyone she saw, she was in a peaceful mood and stopped by a bakery to pick up some biscuits.

Thumbelina arrived on the row f houses that were the grandest in all of the city. The first one was hers. The lawn had greener grass than any in sight and perfectly trimmed rose bushes along the iron gate that she passed through absentmindedly. Thumbelina took a detour into the center of the yard to pick an apple from the large apple tree that she's planted when she was a baby.

The mansion itself was built of stone and had many columns and other decorations. The entrance was wide and had a high ceiling as well as marble tiling.

"Mother? Are you home?" Thumbelina called out in her melodic voice. After hearing no response she walked around the house, she found no one, not even a maid or a manservent. After a while Thumbelina became anxious and left the house, desperate for a distraction.
