Sweet Love [ tag: Esme ]

She nodded in agrement before going back to eat more. There was no way she was waisting away food.
She quickly looked back at him thoguh, half glaring and halg pouting, though she knew he was only teasing her of course.
"I've alwasy been smart! I just choose not brag about it," she stucked out her tonge.

"Sure, sure suuure" he said with a sarcastic tone and a mischievous grin, as he looked at his food and continues eating trying not to laugh for teasing her, now he finally understood why she wnjoyed annoying him all these time, "Whatever you say" he added to spice things up.

"Are you looking down on me?" she asked, suddenly all teared eyed and her under lip trembling, looking like a kicked little puppy. "You are, just like everyone else!"

"Oh no no, Esme, I was just playing with you" he said as he passed a hand at her back and hugged her tight, "Of course I'll never look down at you! never, you hear me? never" he added gently.

"You're just saying that!" she burst out, now letting a few tears run down her face. She truend away from him and buried her face in her hands, grinning like crazy when he couldn't see.
Acting was one of her many skills she's learned from her dear uncle Clopin after all.

"No, no, no I mean it! don't cry, I meant i! you're ... you're one of the smartest girls i've ever known, and beautiful, and clever, and...and genius! and and strong" he said trying to make her feel better and made her understand he was only teasing.

She had to bit her lip to hold bakc her giggles by now. Of course she knew he was teasing, she just took this game to a another level.
"You mean that?" she faked a sobbed.

"Of course i mean that, every single word of it" he said in a more gently tone as he rubbed her arms freaking out for hurting her just because he was playing around. Brilliant, just brilliant, maybe you were better off on your own, what am I saying? What ma I doing? he thought as he was trying to find Esme's face.

"...pffft!" she quikcly coverd her mouth in trying and muffle her laughter, and failing.
"Then you should also know it's near impossible to mae me cry for real," she laughed, wiping away the crocodile tears from ehr eyes. "You're so adorable Johnny. Thanks for the sweet words though~"

John was shocked for a moment, but soon he furrowed his eyes and eyebrows as he listened that everything was a joke, part of him felt humiliated, another part of him found it funny, but still his face showed no emotion at all. "Good one" he said not knowing how to react with that.

She bit her lip to quiet herself down. Maybe she overdid it, again.
"Sorry, but I did feel offended too ya know, even when you were only joking. Guess this makes us even?" she smiled sweetly. "Pwease don't hate me~?"

"I do not hate you, I'm trying to process and know how to react with that" he confessed as hew as about to laugh of it, "Alright, we're even!" he said with a smirk to Esmeralda as he wink at her.

"Well, you couldn't hate me anyway if you wanted to," she said smugly and winked back at him. "And you should be at least a little used to my charming behaviour by now~"

"I just didn't knew that charming side of yours...or acting side, better said" the blonde said as he passed a hand through his hair, laughing a bit nervous.

"Yeeeeeah i never tend to get any use of my acting skills. Wonder why uncle Clo tauth me those tricks," she mused to herself. "I'm sorry, if I ahd knew it'd shake up so bad i wouldn't ahve used them on you," she smiled and patted his head.

"With those incredible skills, I'm sure they can come in handy anytime, maybe he taught them to you to protect you even more" he said assuming a theory, "Oh hey!" he replied a bit surprised but still let her pat his head.

She giggled and decided to move over to sit in his lap instead. She was done eating now anyway, and they could do the cleaning afterwards.
"Yeah, maybe you're right," she sighend content.

John took it by surprise but he didn't complain he had nothing to complain about, so he just followed her game. He wrapped his in her arms so she wouldn't lose balance, "Oh maybe? So I'm not smart enough?"he whispered.

"Hmmm naaah, you're msart enough," she teased and kissed his cheek and snuggled up to him. She felt like such a child in his arms, and she didn't mind acting like one.

"And you are a sneaky little genius" John said as he got a bit more comfy in the chair and kept hugging Esmeralda. No kissing. No lust. Nothing but a couple of innocent pair that found the sweetness of what love was.

Esmeralda let out another content sigh and leaned her head against his shoulder. She already got used to this alright. If only things could stay this good forever...
