He held back a small blush and chuckled again. "If you say so. Don't come crying to me though if everything goes to hell."

She rolled her eyes, "Don't worry I think I can handle a broken heart if that ever happens." She said with a forced laugh.

"Sure you can, but you'll still be crying your eyes out for a loooong time durning the healing," he said matter of factly. "That's why one shouldn't fall in love."

She sighed, "I've heard it said, that its better to fall in love then to have never loved at all. Do you think thats true?" She asked quietly.

He stared balnky at the water. "You're asking me..." he sighend a ran ahand through his hair. "No. I don't."

Odette frowned, "Why not?" She asked softly as she stared at him.

"Well why should I?" he said back.

Odette shrugged, "I don't know....I guess because when you love someone...you....I don't know how to describe it. Its the best feeling in the world....and yet its the scariest feeling too." She said quietly.

"A guy like me don't know the meaning of love," he grimaced. He had never cared about all the girls he got aorund with, only for one night and when the day cmae he'd wouldn't even remember their names.

Odette leaned over and touched his hand, "Don't say that." She said quietly. She cared for him and she hated to see him put himself down like this.

He looked down at their hands for a moment before removing his. He felt... kinda worried when she touched him somehow.
"You don't need to worry about that I sure as hell aren't."

She shook her head, "How can I not worry about that?!" She demanded as she stared at him, "You are my best friend Jim." She said quietly.

Hs eyes widend in surprise, satring in disbelief at her. He laughed quitetly. "No Odette I'm not. Stop trying to make me, or you, feel better by telling lies."

She sighed, "That wasn't a lie Jim....I really do think of you as my friend." She said quietly.

"Frined..? Ha, sometimes maybe," he sighend. "But firneds are suppose to be able to rely on eachother. We two," he looked at her serious."Can not rely on eachother."

She stared at him with a hurt expression, "Why? Because of our past?" She asked sadly.

"Yea... We could both suddenly brake down completly. I wouldn't be surprised if you constantly get remined of them seeing me... and I just feel like I'm about to lose it... go insane or soemthing..."

Odette looked down, "Jim....please don't give up on yourself. And as far as you reminding me of them...you don't." She said flatly.

"Odette," he spoke lowly with his head down. "I'm a dnager to you can't you see that?" He was starting to sound frustrated. "I like hurting others. You are no exception."

Odette frowned, "Thats not true and we both know it, I can handle myself." She said quietly but firmly.

He sighend frustared at the woman's stubborn nature. "No Odette, you don't know. Yes, you cna handle yourself I know that much..."

Odette frowned, "Then what's the problem." She asked quietly as she studied him.

He graaned and pushed himself up on his feet. "You're so fuckin naive Odette."
He turned and started to walk away.

Odette sighed before she got up and followed him, "Then explain it to me...please." She begged.
