Some Time to Think (tags: Anyone :3)

Aurora clung to him but thoughts of Dimitri entered her brain when she least expected they would hit her. She tried to keep her mind focused on the here and now but she needed to stop this...whatever this was. She reluctantly pulled back and stared up at him, "Phillip." She said quietly as she met his gaze.

When Aurora pulled away, Philip reluctantly complied, but he couldn't meet her gaze. He turned his face down and stared at the ground between them, still clinging lightly to the back of Aurora's dress, playing lightly with her ties, and chewing on his bottom lip anxiously. If he looked up, and into her clear, beautiful blue hues, he wouldn't be able to think, so he kept his face down. A large lump was forming and lodging itself in Philip's throat, and his breaths were shallow, while his heart beat at a slow, off pace. What was going to happen? He had this horrible feeling in his stomach he wouldn't like it.

Several seconds after Aurora breathed his name, Philip slowly raised his head just a bit, looking up at Aurora through his lashes with wide worried eyes, subconsciously pulling her closer and crinkling her dress in his hands, still chewing on his lip. It suddenly felt like the world was now moving in slow motion, and it was only making Philip more nervous.

Aurora couldn't help the little sigh that left her lips as Phillip pulled her closer against him. She met his gaze silently just staring i to his eyes, she couldn't quite trust herself to speak.....she didn't want to hurt him again and she had a feeling that that would happen if she opened her mouth. She moved her hands away from under his shirt but moved hem up to rest higher up on his shoulders as she stared at him.

A shiver ran over Philip's shoulders and down his body as Aurora removed her hands from his bare chest. He hung his head lower then as he gently pushed Aurora back from him a bit, a deep ache reverberating in his chest as his arms strained while he brought them back away from her until only his hands lightly rested on her hips. He leaned his head forward to rest softly against hers and closed his eyes as he tried to maintain control over his breathing, her own warm breath running over his lips. "Aurora, I-" he started to say as he hesitantly rose his head in order to meet her gaze, everything in him stopping as he looked at her face-his heart, his breathing, his mind, everything, his expression full of saddened, desperate awe.

Aurora bit her bottom lip when he gently pushed her away from him, she hated herself for ruining the moment and looked down. "I know." She whispered quietly, it was her fault for making things between them even more strained.

Philip's gaze softened as he watched Aurora's face with careful eyes. He slowly reached up and gently took hold of her face-caressing her cheek softly with his thumb and gently pulling her lip out from under her teeth as he bent his neck to try and meet her gaze. "Perhaps..." he started softly, having to stop to clear his throat, shaking his head and closing his eyes during the interlude to try and collect himself again, gazing up helplessly into Aurora's deep blue hues when he focused again.

"Perhaps we should spend some time apart..." Philip suggested, his voice growing quieter and quieter as he spoke. He then forced his eyes away and turned his gaze to the ground as he cleared his throat again, still softly caressing Aurora's cheek. "Maybe it will clear our heads, and help us figure things out, if we aren't seeing each other every day," he continued, working hard to sound detached and neutral, his throat and voice thick.

This was the last thing Philip wanted, the thought of not seeing Aurora for any length of time caused his heart to swell and pulsate rapidly, and making it difficult to take in air to breathe. But Philip could see the pain he was causing for Aurora, and he would give anything for her to not be in pain-for her to be happy. He slowly lifted his gaze to look up forlornly up at Aurora, his thumb ceasing it's movements on her cheek. "At least for a little while," he whispered before giving her a small, sad smile and leaning in to kiss her forehead, the kiss growing more tender over its span of a few seconds. As he reluctantly pulled back, he put on the most cheery smile he could manage and slowly dropped his hands from her, taking a couple steps back from her while still keeping his gaze on her face. "I do love you Auri," he said with a shrug, before sliding his hands into his pockets.

Aurora watched him back away and felt her throat close up as tears threatened to fall from her eyes. "Oh." She somehow managed to say when he mentioned spending time time apart from her. Her heart was aching at the mere thought, "I...I love you too Phillip." She whispered quietly as she met his gaze. She felt like a part of her was being ripped from her very being and it was taking all of her self-control not to fling herself into his arms. She hadn't noticed that one of her sleeves had slipped off of her shoulders, the other sleeve was threatening to do the same. It had happened as a result of their heated passionate kiss earlier.

Philip had to quickly avert his eyes from Aurora's face when he could see the beginnings of tears start to glisten in her eyes, because he knew if he kept his gaze on her face, he would surely fall apart. He stared down frustratingly at the ground, his brow deeply furrowed, as he felt his heart pulsating roughly, at an uneven pace, in his chest. He hated having to say those words, "Perhaps we should spend some time apart", hated it. He didn't want to spend any time apart from Aurora. He wanted the opposite of space. He wanted to hold her, hug her, kiss her....But he knew they both had some things to figure out, some feelings to sort through.

After a few seconds, that felt like an eternity in this awkward silence, Philip hesitantly began to raise his head again, shyly looking up at Aurora. His soft gaze slowly traveled over her form, taking it in, taking in her reaction to his words. As his gaze shifted over her shoulders, his heart quivered as he caught sight of her falling sleeves, and he bit his bottom lip as he worked to hold himself back. His gaze shot up to Aurora's face then, his eyes anxious, but they slowly softened as he relaxed his body, causing him to apprehensively walk back over to her.

One hand slowly lifted from Philip's pocket, stopping before he could touch Aurora's face, and then dropped to gently pull up her sleeves, his eyes following and watching as he fixed her dress. His hand remained on her shoulder for a few seconds after, before he finally let it fall and shoved it back in his pocket. He chanced a brief shy glance up at Aurora before quickly looking away again, and down to the ground, chewing nervously on his lip as they stood there in silence. What could he say? What could he do? Should he just leave? He didn't know. Nothing sounded, or felt, right. Nothing except pulling her into his arms and holding her close, but he knew he couldn't do that.

Aurora felt her heart hammer almost out of her control as he walked up to her. When his hand fixed her sleeve she briefly felt his hand graze her bare skin and shivered at the contact. She had to really fight not to throw herself into his arms and hastily looked down once his hand had left her shoulder. There were a few moments of brief tense silence and Aurora hated herself for feeling like she was allowing this to happen. "Phillip I...I really don't want to ever be separated from you." She whispered.

Philip hesitantly brought his gaze up to look at Aurora through his lashes, and as her face came into view, Philip's breath caught in his throat. She looked so nervous, and vulnerable, and it made her look absolutely beautiful. He couldn't think, and he had to concentrate to get himself to breathe again. Then when she finally broke the silence, his heart skipped a beat at her words, and he started to nervously chew on the inside of his cheek. Hearing those words come from Aurora's mouth....It was like heaven.

Philip's eyes softened the longer he looked at Aurora, and he slowly rose his face to look at her directly. His heart was beating erratically in his chest, and before she could say anything else, he had closed the small distance between them and he had enveloped her in a tight embrace. "I really don't want that either," he whispered against her ear as he tightened his arms around her shoulders to hold her close to him, resting his chin on her shoulder. He didn't care if this was right or wrong at this moment. He just needed Aurora here, next to him.

Aurora sighed and rested her head against his shoulder as she just let herself be held by him, she had meant each word that she had said. "I love you too much to ever want to be away from you." She admitted with a little hiccup in her voice as she held him tightly. She loved the reassuring feel of him against her and just concentrated on how good it felt being held by him.

Philip's whole body relaxed against Aurora as he felt her lean into his embrace, and his body steadily started to warm up, starting in his heart and spreading out to his limbs. Hearing that sigh slip from Aurora's lips caused Philip's heart to stutter, and he tightened his arms around her, afraid that she could slip from his grip at any moment. Then as he heard the hiccup in her voice, he felt his heart ache slightly, and he soothingly rubbed her back. "I love you too. So so much," Philip whispered as he rested his cheek against the top of Aurora's head. "I don't want to be apart from you either," he assured her, moving his hands up and down her back a bit more, and placing a light kiss on her head, before leaning his head lightly against hers again, his face saddened as he looked out into the woods.

It was suddenly becoming harder and harder to breathe, and Philip's heart beat was slowing in his chest as his thoughts continued to run wild in his head. He couldn't really stay like this with Aurora could he? At least not now, when everything was so confusing. Sure, he wanted nothing more then to just hold Aurora, keep her comfortable and happy, but they were still both so confused, their hearts torn. 'What am I going to do?' Philip thought anxiously, turning his head down a bit to look down uncertainly at Aurora's face, still softly rubbing her back.

Aurora sighed and clung to him tightly, "Phillip.....don't feel like you have to choose right away, we both need time to figure things out. We can do that together right?" She asked quietly as she held onto him, she didn't want to let go of Phillip.

Philip's eyes were soft as they remained glued on Aurora's face, until he closed them softly as he let out a deep, silent exhale and bent his face down into the crook of Aurora's neck. "Yes. We can do this together," he assured her gently, as he tightened his arms around her waist. "I've always felt I did my best thinking with you," he said with a light laugh, a small, sad, but hopeful, smile pulling at the corner of his lips, and his thumb gently massaging Aurora's back, as he held her close. Philip's breathing was still a bit jagged and his heart was beating roughly, and slowly, but hearing Aurora say she didn't want to leave him....It made things a bit better. Deep down, he knew that this may make things harder in the long run, but right now he couldn't care. He could only be happy right now that Aurora was still in his arms, that she wanted to still be in his arms.

Aurora sighed as she leaned into Phillip's embrace, "Likewise." She said gently as she moved her hands up to wrap around his neck and lightly massaged the skin there. "I...can't imagine living a life without you." She admitted quietly as she leaned against him.

When Aurora spoke, Philip's smile spread wider over his face and grew much brighter. As he beamed, Philip buried his warming face in the crook of Aurora's neck as he held her close, his hands lightly running up and down her back. "Neither can I Aurora. Neither can I," Philip murmured softly in agreement, lifting his face only slightly before hiding it in her shoulder once more, rubbing Aurora's back soothingly all the while. Philip could feel his heart beat quicken in his chest, like hearing those words from Aurora had brought him back to life, and he was breathing much easier, and deeper, now that it felt like a load had been taken off his chest. Even if she wasn't in love him, at least Philip knew he could keep his best friend in his life. That was good enough. He just needed Aurora in his life, however that may be. He couldn't tell her goodbye. He just couldn't.
